Just because the best LED grow lights have been purchased doesn’t mean growers will enjoy the results they’re after with little to no work on their part. The best lights simply cannot produce results all on their own. Gardeners will still have to provide the basic care to ensure their plants thrive indoors. There are some steps that can ensure outstanding results.
Set Up Lights Properly
One of the biggest factors in ensuring success with the best LED grow lights involves setting up the growing area properly. The key here is understanding the plants the lights will be used on and making sure there’s enough space – and lighting – for them.
Before installing the best LED grow lights, set aside a space for plants. Flat surface tables that are elevated work well. For hobbyists, indoor grow lights that are LED by design won’t require an entire room like other indoor systems. So, just make sure to set aside enough space for the plants in question. A corner of a bedroom, kitchen or garage is likely to serve well.
Once the tables are established, consider the placement of the best LED grow lights to provide optimum coverage for plants. Lights should be placed above the plant canopy much like the sun. The distance between the lights and plants, however, will vary based on the power of the lights and the plants. Read manufacturer instructions carefully here.
Since the best LED grow lights are standalone bulbs by design, growers can use just about any lamp that enables proper placement. For seeds and seedlings even desk lamps will work perfectly. When looking to purchase a plant light make sure you’re getting a screw in bulb that does not require additional heat sinks, ballasts, fans, etc.
Deliver After Care
Once the LED grow lights are in place and the growing area has been set up, plants will still require care. Indoor gardeners will want to take such steps as:
- Making sure growing conditions are optimum – This means ensuring seedlings, for example, are planted in the proper growing materials. Soils should be nutrient rich and the containers able to accommodate size and anticipated growth.
- Providing routine care – The best LED grow lights won’t help if plants aren’t properly watered and inspected. Keep an eye out for pests, re-pot as needed and feed and fertilize as desired.
- Simulate the sun – Remember, the best LED grow lights are meant to simulate the sun to provide plants energy needed for photosynthesis. That means lights need to be cycled on and off at regular intervals.
The best LED grow lights give gardeners an edge. They don’t take the work – or the fun – out of growing.
